Mr. Loden is the owner of Insight Building Inspection, LLC, founded in 1995. He has worked extensively in Alabama to raise the standards for professional home inspectors. He has attended numerous Alabama Building Commission meetings supporting the adoption of a state Standard of Practice and Code of Ethics and requirements for Errors and Omissions Insurance and competency testing for Alabama Home Inspectors. During this time the vast majority of home inspectors were fighting against the higher standards. Eventually the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics were adopted and took effect on January 1, 2004 and the requirements for Errors and Omissions Insurance and competency testing for Alabama home inspectors were adopted and went into effect on January 1, 2005.
Mr. Loden has been recognized by the Alabama Judiciary as an expert in Construction Defects and has provided consultation and expert testimony for construction defect disputes. In 2002 and again in 2008 Mr. Loden was selected by the Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors (EBPHI) as one of approximately a dozen expert home inspectors nationwide to define the practice of home inspection in the national Role Delineation Study. This study defines the National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE), the licensing exam for the State of Alabama. Bill continues to work for the EBPHI as an expert and is currently involved in writing test questions for the NHIE.
Prior to starting his inspection business Mr. Loden was a project manager for a large commercial contractor and also spent 15 years at Marshall Space Flight Center as an expert in Risk Management, Quality, Reliability and Safety. A career highlight, in 1992 he received a Silver Snoopy Award from the NASA Astronaut Corp for specific actions he took that improved flight safety on the Space Shuttle Program.
